This leather pattern PDF helps you craft a steampunk bowler hat made of riveted scraps only. Perfect unique headwear for cosplay and retro costume events.
This is kinda like blacksmithing or like the Knight helmet pattern also available in our shop, in that there's not a lot to sew and you punch rivets instead. It can be done in a day or two and it's a very fun workflow that not many projects have.

- All head sizes are included by printing at the appropriate scales as shown on the first page.
- We used 3-4 oz ( ~1.5 mm ) pull up ( crazy horse ) leather and vegetable tanned leather for the two versions in the pictures.
- The project will gobble up 130 rivets with a cap size of 6 mm and 7 mm foot length and another 30 rivets with a foot length of at least 9 mm.
- The project is made mostly out of patches and scraps adding up to about 7 sq ft of leather ( .6 sq m ).
đź’ˇ The absolute minimum tools you'll need for this project are a cutter ( box opener ), a metal ruler, a mallet, a 2 and a 4 mm punch, two blunt needles and a cutting mat. We use masking tape to prepare the pattern and always sew with 1 mm waxed thread. That's short and sweet but please PM us for more info if you're just starting out.
đź’ˇYou may print this pattern at Actual size on any of the following paper types: US Letter, A4-A0, Legal and Ledger / Tabloid by selecting the US_Letter format from your printing options.

Great pattern, make sure you use the correct thickness of leather. I used thicker leather and it was quite difficult to get some pieces to line up. My mistake. An overall great pattern.
