- The pattern comes in all sizes, scalable as indicated in the chart on the first page.
- We used 5-7 oz ( 2-3 mm ) vegetable tanned leather for the skull and 5-6 oz ( 2 mm ) for the horns but you may use whatever weight you have at hand.
- Some basic skills of working with vegetable tanned leather should be of help. The leather will need to be cased and modeled a bit. Having a swivel knife and being able to work with it at a basic level would help you achieve a better look by simulating some cracks which are marked on the pattern.
- Another optional tool would be a hand modelling tool or a small footprint stamping beveler for shaping the teeth. You may of course just mark them or improvise in some other way.
- The project is put together using cross stitching so make sure you can reproduce it before buying.

💡 The absolute minimum tools you'll need for this project are a cutter ( box opener ), a metal ruler, a mallet, a 2 and a 4 mm punch, two blunt needles and a cutting mat. We use masking tape to prepare the pattern and always sew with 1 mm waxed thread. That's short and sweet but please PM us for more info if you're just starting out.
